Set up Kraken alerts for your finance team
Connecting Kraken takes about five minutes. You need a Freesbe admin and someone who can create API keys in your company’s Kraken account (or one person who’s both).
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Make the channel first, such as a private
#treasury, and add the people who should see the money move. Balances and trades are sensitive: keep the channel private. - Decide what’s worth a card. Deposits, withdrawals and trades suit most teams. Leave staking rewards off unless you want a card each time they’re paid.
- Pick a minimum in dollars if the account is busy, say $100, so small trades don’t fill the channel.
In Kraken
Section titled “In Kraken”- Open Settings → API and click Create API key.
- Name it Freesbe and tick only Query Funds and Query Ledger Entries.
- Leave every permission that trades, deposits, withdraws or transfers unticked.
- Click Generate key. Copy the API key and the Private key; Kraken shows the private key only once.
In Freesbe
Section titled “In Freesbe”- Open Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Finance and click Connect Kraken.
- Paste both keys, pick the channel, and tick what to post.
- Optional: add balance alerts, such as USD drops below 10,000 so someone tops up before a payout, and a daily balance summary at the start of your working day.
- Click Connect Kraken. Then open the account’s ⋯ menu and Send a test alert to see a card in the channel.
New activity posts within a minute. Nothing from before you connected posts.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- One key per channel. To post the same account into two channels, make a second key.
- Freesbe only reads. Even so, a key without trade or withdrawal permissions means nothing can move money with it.
- When Kraken refuses the key, the account shows Can’t read the account. Make a new key and click Replace the key; nothing is missed in between.
See the Kraken guide for everything it posts.
