Calendar app
The Calendar app brings your Google Calendar, Outlook or Zoho Calendar into Freesbe. It sends you three kinds of messages:
- Your day, each morning: the day’s meetings in order, with a Join button for each video call and Yes, Maybe and No buttons for invitations you haven’t answered.
- Starting soon: a reminder a few minutes before each meeting, with its join link.
- New invitation: a message when someone invites you, with Yes, Maybe and No buttons. You also hear when a meeting you’re in moves to a new time or the organizer cancels it.
The messages come from 📅 Calendar and arrive in your DM with yourself, in one workspace you pick. Only you see them.
Turn it on
Section titled “Turn it on”- Open Preferences from your account menu and choose Calendar.
- If you haven’t connected a calendar yet, connect your Google, Microsoft or Zoho calendar first. See Connect your calendar.
- Under Calendar app, click Turn on the Calendar app.
- Google or Microsoft asks you to let Freesbe see your events and answer invitations (Zoho asks to read your calendars and events). Allow it. If you untick that permission, your calendar stays connected for free/busy, but the Calendar app stays off.
Your messages go to the workspace you were in when you turned it on. To move them, open Preferences → Notifications → Calendar in the other workspace and click Send them to … instead.
In the desktop app, Turn on the Calendar app opens Freesbe in your web browser to ask Google, Microsoft or Zoho; the app picks it up from there.
Choose what you get
Section titled “Choose what you get”- Daily agenda: on or off, the time it comes (8:00 AM to start with) and whether it comes on weekends. The time is in your own time zone, from your profile. Days with nothing on your calendar get no message.
- Remind me before meetings: 1, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes before, or not at all. Reminders skip all-day events and meetings you declined. They can arrive up to a few minutes early.
- Invitations and changes: a message for each new invitation, and when a meeting you’re in moves or is canceled.
Send today’s agenda now sends the day’s agenda straight away, so you can see what it looks like. Turn off the Calendar app stops all three; your calendar stays connected.
Answer an invitation
Section titled “Answer an invitation”Click Yes, Maybe or No on an invitation or on the agenda. Freesbe answers in your own calendar, the organizer gets your answer as usual, and the button you picked stays highlighted. You can change your answer the same way. Open in calendar opens the event in Google Calendar, Outlook or Zoho Calendar.
Zoho Calendar doesn’t let other apps answer invitations, so with a Zoho calendar its invitations have Open in calendar instead of Yes, Maybe and No: answer them in Zoho Calendar. See Zoho Calendar.
Join appears when the event has a video call link: a Freesbe meeting, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Webex.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”The Calendar app reads your events when a message is due: their titles, times, places, organizers and join links. Freesbe doesn’t keep your events. It remembers only each upcoming event’s id and times, so a reminder or an invitation goes out once, and forgets those after the event is over. The messages themselves stay in your DM until you delete them.
Disconnect in Preferences → Notifications → Calendar removes Freesbe’s access and everything it remembered.
For admins
Section titled “For admins”The Calendar app is on in every workspace to start with. Owners and admins can turn it off in Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Calendar, which stops its messages in the workspace straight away. The same page shows how many people get Calendar app messages there.
Guests can’t use the Calendar app.
If your organization’s Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace needs an admin to approve apps, approve Freesbe there so people can allow it to see and answer their events.
